I don’t normally photograph businesses, but when Dr. Wright asked, I couldn’t refuse!
I’ve seen a total of 3 chiropractors my whole life. I had never even HEARD of a chiropractor until I came to the States (they do WHAT?!?!?!?! That’s it?!?!?!). Given my aversion to cracking knuckles and popping anything, there was no way I was ever going to see one. But a couple of years ago, during a wedding, I tweaked my neck somehow and the pain wouldn’t go away. Not even after a professional massage. So I gave in and decided to go see one. The first guy I went to was very nice and just told me my neck muscle was tight. Saw him a few times but the pain was still there, and then their insurance policies changed so we had to find a new one. I heard about Dr. Wright through Facebook, and even though he doesn’t take insurance, everyone raved about him so I went. Also found out I was pregnant at that time, so he explained to me all the benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy. I was very skeptical and was like, “Okay, sure. Whatever. Fix my neck.” Harsh? Perhaps. But here’s my view on doctors: you fix my problem first, and then I’ll listen to the advice you want to give me. Prove to me your method works, and then I’ll be all ears. If you start telling me what I need to change before you’ve even assessed me, I probably won’t come back.
Dr. Wright felt my neck and told me immediately that my 2nd vertebrae was out of place. To which I responded, “Cool. Now fix it without popping my neck.” BECAUSE I WASN’T READY TO DIE JACK BAUER STYLE. And he did. Probably cursing under his breath that he got such a difficult patient.
Over the course of my pregnancy, I had quite a bit of lower back pain due to a very funny-looking pelvis because of a car accident years ago. That caused me to see him whenever I was uncomfortable. In my last trimester, I saw him at least 2x a week. I wasn’t skeptical anymore, but I still wouldn’t let him pop my neck.
A few months ago, I tweaked my neck again, and because we were on a new insurance plan due to our self-employment, we tried to find a different chiropractor hoping to save some money. I found another one close by, but the entire time I was there, I just KNEW I wasn’t supposed to be there. It wasn’t guilt, it was just this sinking feeling that it wasn’t what I was supposed to be doing. But I stayed & paid for brand new x-rays and a consultation, only to find out that our new insurance plan didn’t cover chiropractic visits. Money down the drain. So I said, “Shoot, if we have to pay for it, I’m going back to homeboy!” Dr. Wright saw me and said, “You know, I can fix your neck problem much faster if you’ll let me pop it.” I was so happy to see him that I said YES! And he did. And it was freaking awesome.
Now, he is the only chiropractor I ever see. And he’s the only one I’ll let pop my neck. He & his team just moved into a brand new building a few months ago to accommodate his ever-growing business, and he is also now the official chiropractor for the Texas Rangers.

What I love about his team is that I never felt like I was in a doctor’s office. I never saw them buried under a pile of insurance paperwork (in fact, they’re usually bouncing around on those big exercise balls with a happy smile on their face!). I only know one other doctor who doesn’t take insurance, and she briefly explained the benefits to me. There is no pressure from the insurance company to see a certain number of patients, and you know that the patients are coming to see you because they genuinely like you and believe in your abilities. It was very interesting to hear.

Dr. Wright & his team also offer pediatric chiropractic care. Anna Lynn’s been adjusted once, and I’ll be bringing her back for another adjustment soon!
